A Savana e a Montanha
The people living in the village of Covas do Barroso in Northern Portugal are faced with Europe's largest open-pit mining project, planned by the British company Savannah Resources, just a few meters away from their homes. The villagers, confronted with this threat, decide to organize to protect their land and push the company out of the region. This film, shot in a documentary and western style, conveys the villagers' struggle in a striking and realistic way to the viewer. Among the main characters in the film are brave villagers who oppose this situation and work to organize the community. While attracting the attention of the viewers, the film also draws attention to industrial threats to nature and human life. The film was shot in the village of Covas do Barroso in northern Portugal.
