Happy Gilmore, an unsuccessful hockey player, decides to become a golfer out of necessity. He turns this sober sport into a crazy sport in order to save his grandmother's house. Happy begins to create a sensation in the media with his antics on the golf course. In return for the kindness of his opponent Shooter McGavin, Happy's strange approach and mischievous moves on the greens are determined to win the PGA tournament and save his grandmother's house with the prize money. In the meantime, an attractive tour public relations specialist tries to soften Happy's image. While the film promises entertaining moments to the audience, it also presents the strict rules and traditions of the sport from a critical perspective.
