A story of love and survival of a drug smuggler set in Mexico in the 1940s.


Set in the 1950s in Mexico, "Queer" tells the story of William Lee, an American drug smuggler. While leading a lonely and isolated life, Lee meets a young student named Eugene Allerton and his life changes completely. Lee feels a deep love for Allerton, but these feelings remain unrequited. Despite their complex and challenging relationship, they embark on a quest together to find a special hallucinogenic plant, believed to grant telepathic abilities. The movie narrates the characters pushing their personal boundaries and confronting love, commitment, and addiction.

The film was generally well-received by viewers. Lee's complex character and his relationship with Allerton captivated viewers, while the use of drugs and themes of sexuality in the film sparked debates. Various regions of Mexico are among the filming locations.
