"Red Heat" tells the adventure of a ruthless Russian policeman, Captain Ivan Danko (Arnold Schwarzenegger), to catch a drug dealer in America. Danko is sent to America to bring a Russian drug dealer back to his country. A quick-witted and shabby American detective, Art Ridzik (James Belushi), is assigned to accompany him. These two policemen from different cultures start working together and soon a relationship based on humor and respect develops between them. The duo takes action to stop the international drug trafficking managed from a prison. However, they get into trouble and become fugitives due to the unusual police procedures they apply. The film offers viewers an exciting action and comedy.
The film was shot in Red Square and is the first American film to be shot in this location.
