Inspired by Robert Wyatt's music and life, "Rock Bottom" tells the free love story of a young artist couple, Bob and Alif, who plunged into the creative whirlwind of the hippie culture of the early 70s. A passionate summer turns into a nightmare under the influence of drugs. The main themes of Wyatt's music, such as artistic creation's subconscious attraction with drugs, disappointment from routine life, and physical and mental collapse, come to the forefront in this story.
The film offers its audience a panorama of the lives, loves, and struggles of the young artists of the 70s. While Bob and Alif are trying to cope with the destructive effects of drugs, they also experience that artistic creation is both a drug and an awakening.
The film was shot in the colorful and chaotic atmosphere of England in the 70s.
