Shaking Fists at the World
"Shaking Fists at the World" tells the story of two brothers named Tobias and Philipp, who live in the village of Ostsächsischen. In this small village, which is sweltering with the heat in the summer and struggling to cope with the freezing cold in the winter, their family begins to build a new home. This could be a turning point in the brothers' lives. However, the industrial heritage of the DDR is still present in this state, and this situation triggers Philipp and Tobias' growing despair every day. Nationalist demonstrations are held in Dresden, refugees are to be settled in their village, and this situation is the last straw. While one brother withdraws into himself, the other brother looks for an outlet for his anger.
The film strikingly shows how their family dreams turn into a nightmare and the effect this situation has on the brothers. The characters' desperation and anger can deeply affect the viewer.
The film was shot in the ostsächsischen state in eastern Germany.
