Small Things Like These
The year is 1985, Christmas Eve, in a small town in County Wexford, Ireland. Coal merchant Bill Furlong is working intensely to provide for his wife and five daughters. One morning, while distributing coal at the local monastery, he discovers the dark secrets controlled by the town's Catholic Church and unsettling truths about his own past. This situation requires Bill to confront both his own past and the community that silently colludes with the town's crimes. Based on Claire Keegan's novel of the same name, the film strikingly depicts the social and religious life of the period's Ireland, the secrets individuals and societies hide, and how these secrets are revealed.
