"Innocence" takes place in the future, in the year 2032. In this period when the boundaries between humans and machines are blurred, it tells the story of a cyborg detective named Batou. Batou is assigned to investigate a series of murders committed by gynoids, doll-like cyborgs. These gynoids always operate in the same way: first they kill, then they destroy themselves. However, a voice file saying "Help me" is found in a gynoid that Batou himself neutralized. The story tells of Batou's efforts to solve this mystery and his questioning of what it means to be human.
The film invites viewers to think deeply and question the meaning of humanity. The depiction of Batou's inner world and the world around him offers viewers the opportunity to re-evaluate their own human condition and their relationship with technology.
