Traces of Pre-Ice Movements
Frölke's new film does not tell the story of a publishing house and its books that once existed, but rather excavates its legacy. Each piece becomes a fragment. The film is carried along by the music of the main character Tessa, as she searches for her own human story of knowledge and sign production, alongside the ephemeral and useless. In the process, we meet many different characters who capture the audience's attention and make them think more in each scene. The film offers the audience the opportunity to question the legacy left after the end of a publishing house and how this legacy can be re-interpreted. Viewers' experiences often express a mixed feeling of awe and curiosity at the complexity and depth of the film's story. The film was shot in the ruins of the Pendo publishing house's offices in Switzerland.
