Growing up in a single-parent family, Maria has never been very close to her mother. After her mother's sudden death, she realizes her responsibilities. While organizing her mother's belongings, she finds CDs, photos, a diary and an unplayable demo tape called "MARIA" that her mother collected in her youth. Curious about her mother's past, Maria goes to a music club where she encounters the Visual Kei music culture.
Throughout the film, Maria tries to better understand her mother's youth and who she is, while also discovering herself. Maria's personal journey deeply affects the audience and makes them think about family ties, traces of the past and personal growth.
The film was shot on the magical streets of Japan, where her mother lived in her youth.
