In the early 2000s in China, we follow the love story of a young couple named Qiaoqiao and Bin. Bin moves to another province in hopes of a better life and promises Qiaoqiao to take her with him. However, Bin never returns. Qiaoqiao embarks on a desperate journey to find Bin. This journey leads her to both discover her love and the rapidly changing face of her country. This film, directed by Jia Zhang-ke, tells both an individual love story and the radical transformation of a country. The film, shot in various regions of China, offers viewers the opportunity to observe a 25-year historical change. While viewers generally find Qiaoqiao's determination and love story impressive, seeing the rapidly changing socio-economic structure of the country also deeply affects them.
