The adventure of Edward, an officer of the British Empire, who flees from his fiancée Molly across Asia in 1917.

Set in 1917, the film narrates events from the perspective of Edward, an officer of the British Empire. When his fiancée Molly arrives in Rangoon, a panicked Edward leaves her and embarks on a directionless journey across Southeast Asia. This journey gradually replaces Edward's initial panic with melancholy, while Molly is determined not to give up on Edward. Molly finds amusement in Edward's desperate escape, while Edward begins to contemplate the course of his journey. Although the film is based on a historical narrative, it is adorned with modern elements and handles the concept of space and time in a unique way. The film is the sixth feature film of the famous Portuguese director Miguel Gomes, who made a big splash with Tabu in 2012 and the film is Portugal's Oscar nominee. The film offers viewers an original critique on imperialism, modernity, and mobility.

Where It Was Filmed: The film was shot in Rangoon, the capital of Burma, and various regions of Southeast Asia.
