When John "Divine G" Whitfield returns to his cell in Sing Sing, he feels the sadness of the curtain closing and the applause ending. Although he did not commit the murder that unjustly put him in prison, he is serving a long sentence in this high-security prison. The prison theater is his only hope in a prison life filled with monotonous and silent despair. Even on stage, there are moments when John manages to transport himself beyond the high walls. However, Clarence "Divine Eye" Maclin, an unpredictable character who participates in the theater program, disrupts the group's creative routine. Maclin insists on staging a comedy play. The film highlights the transformative power of art and the resilience of the human spirit. As viewers watch the characters resort to art to cope with challenges, they share in their experiences and accompany them in their struggle for survival.
The film was shot in Sing Sing Prison, located in the state of New York and one of the most famous high-security prisons in America.
